Backed against an ancient protected cloud forest and fed by crystalline springs historically reserved for Bhutanese royalty, our family-run resort provides elegant accommodations with the grace, longstanding tradition, and the deeply rooted sense of hospitality that has become the hallmark of our family. Discover Bhutan as you discover what we are all about.
Family. Tradition. Grace.
Make a flavorsome foray into the food culture of Bhutan with our interesting series of regional favorites. Try our hearty buckwheat pancakes with hand-gathered honey from local farms or puta, the fibre-rich noodles of the Jakar Valley where we are located. For those with adventurous palates, our mushroom infused twist on the fiery national dish, Ema Datsi, is accompanied with red rice and jambuley gnocchi. From fresh farm-sourced local cheese, seasonal fruits and vegetables, lean meat and freshwater fish, we offer healthy, hearty and nutritious meals that are sure to please.
Make our family resort your perfect basecamp for the many ways to explore the lovely Bumthang region.
Start from our grounds and visit the many temples and monasteries for which Bumthang is famous or take a walk on the wild side by crossing the swaying, wind-swept suspension bridge strewn with prayer flags over the rushing rapids of the Chamkhar River (see guest video below). Enjoy an excursion to a sedate nunnery or visit the interiors of beautiful Tang Valley, our family’s spiritual home. Whether it is mountain biking, hiking, trekking, or one of Bumthang’s stunning festivals, the Bhutan Mountain Resort is the perfect place to start your adventure!
This is a sweet, cozy place that does feel like a mountain lodge - including the chilly rooms, but the wood-burning stoves are a wonderful addition. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. The lighting is a bit dim. The staff are incredibly attentive and pleasant, quick to respond to requests. The location is in the country, but a pleasant walk into the small town. It's quite quiet at night, so sleeping is easy!
We spent three nights here. The hotel is only about a 15 minute walk from town. Our room was large and had a nice view. The bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms are large also, with a separated shower area and a separate tub. There was lots of counter space for toiletries.
I have been a regular over 20 years at this hotel and it is one of the best in Bhutan in its categories: family owned, kind hospitality, delicious food, good wifi, nice garden, helpful staff. It is just like being in a cocoon... in the beautiful Bumthang valley.
